Our 17th-generation tea artisans select only first-harvest Ichiban leaves instead of the tougher, later-harvest leaves typically used for hojicha. These tender first-harvest leaves are then slow-roasted using techniques perfected over 400 years. This process creates a velvety texture and smooth finish with notes of clean caramel and no bitterness.

Unlike most hojicha on the market, which uses low-grade leftover tea bits, our hojicha is crafted from premium Ichiban (first-harvest) leaves, the same quality typically reserved for ceremonial matcha. Our 17th-generation tea artisans have perfected their craft since the late 1500s, applying generational knowledge to each slow roast. This commitment to quality creates a smoother, more refined hojicha with clean caramel notes and no bitterness.

How do you prepare Hojicha?

For HOT Hojicha: Simply place our hojicha tea bag in your cup, pour in boiling water, and let it steep for about 30 seconds. This quick brew brings out the tea’s roasted aroma and smooth, comforting flavor. For ICED Hojicha: Brew a tea bag with hot water and pour it over ice in a glass. Alternatively, place our hojicha tea bag in cold water and let it steep slowly in the refrigerator for 3 to 8 hours, creating a smooth, fragrant flavor with a gentle roasted aroma.
